STAY

'In my waiting, with my works. 

Through my failures every fall 

I'll stay, I'll stay here with you' 

...goes the lyrics of a song 'Stay'. 

However, in practice we know that it's not as easy; especially after falling to sin repeatedly, making mistakes, and disobeying even something as simple as losing your cool after being provoked.

All these I have experienced firsthand, and I must confess that the overwhelming guilt and shame always make me want to run away and hide, just like Eve and her babe, Adam, did in Genesis 3:8.

"I'm not worthy." "Why do you even care?" "What's the point if I keep failing?" "Just let me go". "Jesus, please kill me because I am not worth the stress" (yes, I said this😂) "I'm tired; can I even do this Christian thing well". Sighing of the highest order.

Ever patient, our Father. He just is very cool and unfazed, and na me just dey throw tantrum 😂.

He didn't kill me nor push me away (trust me, I asked many times).

He tells us to stay because that's the only way (rhymes, hehe). (Ahem, serious mode😤)We don't get better in an instant; we don't get transformed immediately; we go through a process. Grueling as it may be, we stay. We don't leave; failure happens only when we leave and you know what's sweeter? When we can no longer hold on, He carries us. Omo Yahweh (child of Yahweh) You are covered😌.

One time, I was sitting and said to the Lord, 'It is difficult, hard, and I'm tired of failing and falling. As I was moping, He reminded me of an illustration: water pouring over a glass of dark liquid. (I was the dark liquid), and He was the tap/faucet pouring clean water into me. He taught me that the only way I would become and stay clean is by sitting under His outpouring. The longer we stay, the cleaner we get.

Yes, we may feel dirty at first, and yes, it may feel like we're not making progress but stay. He will never chase you away, He will never condemn you Romans 8:1🫂
