You Are Not Alone
I was reminiscing about my primary school days. Why? I currently have the same eye infection I had then, the infamous 'Apollo'😑. I remember how I was ostracized because of my infection, and everyone in class kept saying, 'Don't look into his eyes', 'Don't look at me', 'Don't give me Apollo'. As children, we all know how this would make us feel. I felt alone, but my best friend from primary school came and sat with me. The others shouted in his ears to leave me so he wouldn't get infected. Although I told him not to, my friend looked me in the eye sternly and said he didn't care if he got infected (he did later, and we were Apollo bros 😂, but you get the gist). My friend didn't leave me to suffer alone when everyone else deserted me. He joined in and suffered with me. Even when others told him to stay away, he didn't. I could look for no better example of a good friend than one who doesn't leave you in your suffering.
While doing my devotional, the events that occurred in my primary school replayed in my head, accompanied by the words 'I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU', and it made more sense than it ever has since I became a Christian. I truly understood and knew what it meant and what it would look like. The same way my friend didn't care what others said and didn't stay away from me, Jesus will never leave us. It doesn't matter what we've done, what we've thought of ourselves, what has been said about us, or the lies we've believed. No matter how difficult your situation may be, God promises never to leave or forsake you, even at your lowest.
He is, and He wants to be that friend for each of us. It may not feel so at times, but He is always present in times of trouble, as the psalmist says in Psalm 46: 1
God wants you to know that He is with you every time, in everything. He will not leave, and He doesn't welch on His promises; like my friend, He may not take away that pain or difficult situation, but He will not leave you to go through it alone. Jesus is that friend that sticks closer than a brother.
Admittedly, it may be hard to believe, and sometimes we may ask, 'God, where are you in all of this?' 'Why are you silent?' 'do you not love me anymore?' remember Romans 8: 35-38, nothing can separate us from God's love. The truth is, He is closer than we think. Whatever your situation may be, He's willing and ready, waiting right beside you, hoping you notice Him and call out to Him so He can lavish you with His love.
Dear believer, Jesus is waiting; call out to Him, you will not be disappointed, give Him a try: Psalms 34: 8.😉
Amen 🥰🙏
