Being Fathered by God I
A sequel of my next adventure
I prayed and told God, 'oya o I've posted that blog😤', what's the first lesson on being a child before you Sir 🤲🏾? and, no answer for dayss. Little did I know Dad was cooking sum'n.
Later that week, I remembered something I needed, and the thought that followed was 'hm who could give me said thing'. I looked at my phone on the chair and mentally scanned my contacts for who; Even if the person could not, the wishful thought that they could was enough.
The Holy Spirit who was watching (as always 🤭) said "isn't God the first person you're supposed to look to / depend on?" That was my 'aha, you see yourself?' moment. I was caught red minded. I didn't even have defense. Swift conviction 😭.
Then He brought Psalms 121:1-2
I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!
And I asked for forgiveness and His help in directing my thoughts towards Him whenever I'm in need.
What Dad helped me see was, each time I ever needed something, there was a name that came to mind that might give me said thing, and it wasn't His.
He wants to be the first and only name that pops in my head whenever I'm in need. He's the first and only person we should to look to for help.
Yes, He will use people to help us, but people should not be the first to pop in our heads, He should!
He will be the one that puts us in men's hearts and cause them to favour us.
Why look to ones with limited resources when we have One whose resources are inexhaustible.
A thing I've learnt is that God never ever moves the way you think or would expect Him to. In fact if it happens exactly how you thought it would, it's prolly not Him. If you think of a million ways God could get you something, that one that you didn't think of is how He's going to do it for you. When Dad said my ways are not your ways, He meant it! We can't predict or put our Dad in a box.
Isaiah 55: 8-9
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
'beyond anything you can imagine'.
Now, dependence on God transcends when we're in need of something. It's falling back on Dad for everything, even things you feel you're capable of. We should always invite Him and ask for guidance. Reminds me of Proverbs 3:5-6 that says
'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.'
We like to be independent adults most of the time, but when it comes to God, that stops. We're to be children and lean not on our understanding. I personally enjoy being God's baby boy.
Children without supervision will always mess things up, and same applies to us.
The goal is getting to a point where without God you don't want to do anything because you know you'd mess it up, you won't move till He says go!
As humans our foresight is limited, our Dad is all knowing. Remember that before you venture out on your own!
Thank you 🥲❤️
