I am scared to do...

Hello body of Christ

I was on the phone with my mentor today and boy were things getting real as he was breaking down my plans telling me how to go about some things and how he needed me to have 'concrete goals' in his words. They became things I'd have to actively work towards and I let fear come over me.

After my call with my mentor I wanted to post 'crippling fear' on my WhatsApp status; then I reminded myself what fear is and who it's from  "oga you're a Christian o so you know that fear does not come from God abi? so you know it's from the other guy (Satan) abi? And you know what the other guy comes to do abi (steal, kill and destroy)? And if you're scared and it comes from that guy what does it mean?"

Friends, fear, I'd say is a sign you're onto something.Fear, as Christian's should know, is not from our Father 'for God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline' 2 Timothy 1:7.

So if fear is not from Father who is it from? The devil! And what does he come to do? Hear it from Jesus Christ himself in John 10:10 'the thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy'

Fear comes from the devil right? So when you want to do something, the existence of fear is a feeble attempt by the devil to try to prevent us from taking action and keep us stagnant. It can also be used to slow us down.

The whole idea of fear is 'im scared, I won't do it' and from fear, doubt sets in and we may find ourselves paralysed. When you get scared, what to do is the thing you are scared of doing. Counterintuitive innit? Do it despite the fear knowing you're not alone.

We've all made fear induced decisions. We all have done or not done things out of fear. (Noting that inactions too are actions not taken. So by doing nothing you are doing something too: 'nothing'). Fear of not being good enough to do..., not doing something well, fear of failing so we end up not trying, fear of failing so we put little effort into doing something because we are scared we'd fail even if we did put effort. And when we do fail, blame our lack of effort, to justify failing only to repeat the same comfortable cycle again when fear is the root of the initial lack of effort.

Whenever we get scared, we should see it as the devil trying to prevent us from getting somewhere God has destined for us. To an extent, we determine what fear is for us, what we perceive it as; roadblock or opportunity for greatness, what do YOU want it to be?

You should trust in the Lord when you get scared Psalms 56:3 says 'but when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you'.

You can also speak to the spirit of fear. You are of God, the body of Christ. You have God's word as a sword to cut through the lies of the enemy.  It's named the 'sword of the spirit' '...and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God' Ephesians 6:17 ...to cut through the lies of the enemy. Let me paint a picture of how it is when we speak the word of God' as the body of Christ...

... literally mountain moving.

Most importantly, hand them over to Him who has overcome because you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you; Philippians 4:13

I'd argue, be joyful when you are scared, cause then you know something awesome is on the other side of that fear. When you feel fear, do it regardless. When you see fear know the little boy (Satan) is trying to play some games and Father is with you Isaiah 41:10.

Fear should even motivate you; when you do not want to, do it. Fear should be more reason for you to do it. Fear is an indication that you can do what you're being made to believe you can't. The devil is just a liar he is called the 'father of lies' for a reason. Fear is a lie the devil tells you. An illusion to limit you. I'd even argue that the devil is scared of you reaching that point so he gives you his fear as the spirit of fear does not come from God.

So if it's coming from the other guy,  know it's not meant to help you cause that guy doesn't want any good for you. Never forget 'steal, kill and destroy'.

When you get scared, he's looking for something to steal from you or destroy for you question is are YOU going to let him? You have the word, use it.

If you do get scared, Jesus knows and He's with you. If you live in the reality of the fact he's with you, the spirit of fear has nothing on you. Like God told Joshua "this is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”Joshua 1:9.

That thing you're scared of doing, DO IT!

God bless you.
